SYMPTOMS

In PowerPoint 97, when you open an AutoRecover file after PowerPoint fails abnormally, your earlier changes to Summary or Custom presentation properties are not saved.

RESOLUTION

To avoid the loss of Summary and Custom properties, save your document after you change any properties.

MORE INFORMATION

Typically, when you restart PowerPoint after a power failure or similar problem, PowerPoint automatically opens any recovered presentations. If, for some reason, the recovery file does not open, you can open it yourself. By default, the file is located in the Temp folder in the Windows folder.

If you choose not to save a recovered file after PowerPoint automatically opens it, the file is deleted when you quit PowerPoint.
