SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You run a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based image that supports the SYSGEN_CACHEFILT SYSGEN variable on a target device.
  • You attach an external storage device to the target device.
  • You run an application that accesses files on the external storage device. For example, you play a .mp3 file that is stored in the external storage device.
  • You unplug the external storage device.
In this scenario, a "data abort" exception may occur in a MEMCPY operation. Additionally, the device may crash.

RESOLUTION

After you apply the update, the device does not crash. Instead, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
Cannot play the .mp3 file. Please verify the path.
