Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You install the Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS) server role on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.

  • You install an instance of Microsoft SQL Server that is configured to use a case-sensitive collation on the computer. For example, the instance of SQL Server is configured to use the SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_BIN2 collation.

  • You select one of the following options to provision the AD RMS Server:

    • Join an existing AD RMS cluster

    • Create a new AD RMS cluster

In this scenario, the AD RMS provision fails. Additionally, you receive an error that resembles the following:

Must declare the scalar variable "@i_CertId". Incorrect syntax near ')'
