When you use Microsoft Exchange Server and you try to send email messages through Microsoft Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE), the messages are not sent successfully.
This issue occurs if an outgoing Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) configuration is not established correctly between Exchange Server and FOPE data centers.
To resolve this issue, use the following Microsoft TechNet article to make sure that the Exchange Server configuration for outgoing SMTP mail to FOPE is configured correctly:
