SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have an application that communicates with an IBM host system by using the Microsoft BizTalk Adapter for Host Applications (BAHA).
  • The application has one or more Transaction Integrator (TI) methods that include In/Out parameters that are defined as decimal data types.
  • The Error Handling property for the decimal data type is set to Round.

In this scenario, if a BAHA XML message passes a value of "0" (zero) for one or more of the In/Out parameters, you may receive an exception that resembles the following:
Exception: HISMPCZ0004 In PrimitiveConverter when processing parameter parameter_name of method method_name the magnitude of a sending field exceeds that allowed for a receiving field.;

at Microsoft.HostIntegration.TI.TBGen.Invoke(Assembly assembly, String clsidString, Int32 dispID, ClientContext& context, Object[] inArray, Object[]& outArray)

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Transaction Integrator incorrectly rounds up the value of zero that is passed from the XML message. The exception occurs because the incorrectly rounded value exceeds the defined precision and scale that are configured for the parameter.
