SYMPTOMS

When opening a PDF file within Internet Explorer 8 (IE8), Adobe Reader will give a message that the PDF file needs to be tagged. Once the tagging preference is set and the tab or the browser is closed, IE8 will crash. If MED-V is not running, this crash does not occur.

CAUSE

Adobe is detecting MED-V as a screen reader and is enabling accessibility features.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, perform one of the following steps:

In Adobe Preferences, under the Reading category, change the Page vs Document settings of the Screen Reader options to be set to For large documents, only read the currently visible pages and uncheck the confirm before tagging documents checkbox.
