INTRODUCTION

Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010. This update provides the latest fixes for SharePoint Server 2010. Additionally, this update contains stability and performance improvements.

This article describes a critical update that will remove a file dependency in Microsoft Office Web Apps 2010 when Office Web Apps runs in a server environment in mixed mode.

This update enables you to run Office Web Apps 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) in an RTM version of Microsoft SharePoint Server. The update also enables you to run the RTM version of Web Companions 2010 in SharePoint Server 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

If you do not install this critical update, mixed mode server environments and later hotfixes may not work correctly.
