Issue that this hotfix package fixes

A Microsoft SharePoint Online site may stop responding or load slowly. This issue occurs when lots of users are using OneNote documents in the site's document library. 

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Registry information

After you install the hotfix package, a default CbHotWriteTriggersBouncer registry value is set. However, you can manually change the registry value. To do this, follow these steps:  
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Internet\
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type CbHotWriteTriggersBouncer, and then press ENTER.
  5. In the Details pane, right-click CbHotWriteTriggersBouncer, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
Note After you set the first registry key, the Bouncer feature is enabled when more than 60 megabytes is written in the coalesce binary large object (BLOB). Additionally, you can disable the Bouncer feature by setting the CbHotWriteTriggersBouncer registry value to FFFFFFFF.

After you install the hotfix package, a default MinutesBouncerEnabled registry value is set. However, you can manually change the registry value. To do this, follow these steps:  
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Internet\
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type MinutesBouncerEnabled, and then press ENTER.
  5. In the Details pane, right-click MinutesBouncerEnabled, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
Note The Bouncer feature is active for eight hours when it triggers after you set the second registry key.

After you install the hotfix package, a default SimultaneousSyncClientsBouncerAllows registry value is set. However, you can manually change the registry value. To do this, follow these steps:  
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\Internet\
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type SimultaneousSyncClientsBouncerAllows, and then press ENTER.
  5. In the Details pane, right-click SimultaneousSyncClientsBouncerAllows, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
Note The Bouncer feature limits five OneNote users to synchronize at the same time after you enable the third registry key.

This hotfix may not contain all the files that you must have to fully update a product to the latest build. This hotfix contains only the files that you must have to resolve the issue that is listed in this article.

The global version of this hotfix package uses a Microsoft Windows Installer package to install the hotfix package. The dates and the times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in the following table. When you view the file information, the date is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
