OL2000: Imported .csv File Does Not Handle X.400 Address Types

When you import contacts that include X.400 e-mail addresses from a comma separated value (*.csv) file into the Contacts folder, the address type defaults to SMTP. This causes these addresses to be unusable, and generates non-delivery reports (NDRs).

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
NOTE: It is important to know that different applications export to .csv files differently. Therefore, use the sample format for correct e-mail address and e-mail type. E-mail Address and E-mail Type are the formatting critical fields.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Outlook 2000. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 2.
