[SDP 3][f2567265-e251-4fce-a78a-dd0a01d22182] Repro Recorder

This Support Diagnostics Platform (SDP) diagnostic provides the ability to capture a screen recording while you reproduce a problem on your workstation. This recording is then uploaded so Microsoft support can analyze the problem displayed in the recording.

NOTE : This diagnostic can be used on the following versions of Microsoft Windows. 


When you run the Repro Recorder diagnostic, you will be prompted to install the following required components if they are not yet installed on your computer.

 - Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0
 - Microsoft Expression Encoder 4

If you elect not to install either component, the Repro Recorder diagnostic will not be able to successfully record activity on your computer.The following figures show the prompts you receive if these components are not installed when you run the Repro Recorder diagnostic.

After the Repro Recorder diagnostic is finished creating the recording, you are also prompted to uninstall .Net Framework 4 Extended if it was originally installed by this diagnostic. This prompt is shown in the following figure.



If you click No to this prompt, you will find Microsoft .NET Framework 4 in the Programs and Features control panel.



If you installed Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 when you ran the diagnostic, you will also be prompted to uninstall it after you capture your recording.



If you select No, to this prompt, you will find Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 listed in the Programs and Features control panel.




Information Collected

NOTES :

- All file names in the data collection are prefaced with the {Computername} on which the Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool is run.

 - The Repro Recorder diagnostic creates an .xesc file that contains the recording. Use a program such as Windows Media Player to view the recording.
