FIX: IntelliSense functionality might not work for a Visual C++ project in Visual Studio 2010 on a computer that is running Windows XP

SYMPTOMS

When you edit a Visual C++ project in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 on a computer that is running Windows XP, IntelliSense functionality might not work. 

For example, the Parameter Info, Quick Info, Auto Complete, List Members, and Error Squiggles features might not work.  

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the Vcpkgsrv.exe process cannot run. 

After an update is applied to the Ole32.dll file, the Vcpkgsrv.exe process cannot handle a COM interface in the Ole32.dll file. Therefore, the process terminates when it uses the Ole32.dll file, and then the IntelliSense functionality is unavailable.

Note The Vcpkgsrv.exe process implements IntelliSense functionality.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information
