SUMMARY

When you use logging with Proxy Server, the log files are compressed by default. The compressed logs appear and act as files compressed with normal NTFS file system compression, even if NTFS compression is not enabled on the drive.

This article describes how to turn off the log file compression.

To disable compression for packet filter logs:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate the LogFileFsCompress value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mspadmin\Parameters
  3. On the Edit menu, click DWORD, type 0, and then click OK.
  4. Quit Registry Editor.
To disable compression for Web Proxy logs:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate the LogFileFsCompress value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W3Proxy\Parameters
  3. On the Edit menu, click DWORD, type 0, and then click OK.
  4. Quit Registry Editor.
To disable compression for Socks Proxy logs:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate the LogFileFsCompress value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W3Proxy\Parameters\SOCKS
  3. On the Edit menu, click DWORD, type 0, and then click OK.
  4. Quit Registry Editor.
To disable compression for Winsock Proxy logs:
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
  2. Locate the LogFileFsCompress value under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WSPSrv\Parameters
  3. On the Edit menu, click DWORD, type 0, and then click OK.
  4. Quit Registry Editor.
