SYMPTOMS

Assume that you enable Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. When you run the database plug-in assembly, you receive the following error message:

This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the MD5CryptoServiceProvider algorithm is not FIPS compliant.
