The EdgeTransport.exe process crashes occasionally after you install Update Rollup 2 for Exchange Server 2007 SP3

SYMPTOMS

After you install Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on a computer, the EdgeTransport.exe process on the server crashes occasionally. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log:

Description:
Watson report about to be sent to dw20.exe for process id: <Process ID>, with parameters: E12N, <Build Type>, <Version Number>, edgetransport.exe, exrpc32.dll, <XXXX>, c0000005, <XXXX>, <Version Number>. ErrorReportingEnabled: False

CAUSE

This issue occurs because Exrpc32.dll does not verify a NULL buffer before it accesses the buffer when the message is delivered. Therefore, an access violation occurs in the EdgeTransport.exe process.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:
