SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You run a Microsoft .NET Framework 4-based Windows Form application on a computer.
  • The application uses a ListView control that contains a SubItems collection.
  • The Localized property of the application is set to True.
In this scenario, the application may encounter a System.BadImageFormatException exception. When this exception is encountered, the application crashes. If you debug this issue, you receive the following error message:
The type serialized in the .resources file was not the same type that the .resources file said it contained. Expected 'System.Windows.Forms.ListViewItem' but read 'System.Windows.Forms.ListViewItem+ListViewSubItem'
