SYMPTOMS

When you navigate to the Web Part Page Maintenance list to recover a removed Web Part, the Web Part is not there.

CAUSE

When you delete a Web Part, it removes it completely from the page.

RESOLUTION

If you have deleted a Web Part from a page, you have to add and reconfigure it from the Web Part library. This is in contrast to clicking Close on the menu for a Web Part. When you click Close, the closed Web Part remains listed in the Web Part Page Maintenance list with a value of No in the Open on Page? column, and it appears in the Closed Web Parts list when you navigate to the Web Part library.
