FIX: When Microsoft Message Queuing Is Configured for Workgroup on a Windows 2000 Cluster, the Resource Fails to Come Online

SYMPTOMS

After you configure a Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) resource in a Windows 2000 Server Cluster environment, the resource may fail to start. The MSMQ service fails to come online as a cluster resource in a Windows 2000 cluster environment if MSMQ was installed in workgroup mode on the nodes of the cluster.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To work around this problem, uninstall MSMQ on all nodes and install MSMQ in nonworkgroup mode.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 1.
