SBS 2011 Console Crashes when you click on Shared Folders and Web Sites Tab

SYMPTOMS

Small Business Server 2011 Standard console may crash when you click on Shared Folders and Web Sites Tab. When the crash occurs, SBS Console will terminate and the user will see the following window.

The Console.log file that is located at c:\program files\windows small business server\logs will contain the following error:

An exception of type ‘Type: system. Runtime. InteropServices.COMException, mscorlib, version=4.O.O.O, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089’ has occurred.
Timestamp:  04/26/2011 20:07:31
Message:  Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CL5ID {7D096C5F—Ac08-4F1F-8E87-5c22c517cE39} failed due to the
following error:  80070422 The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated
with it. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070422).

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Windows Search Service is Stopped and Set to Disabled.

RESOLUTION

1. Click Start>Run.

2. Type Services.msc

3. Look for "Windows Search" Service

4. Richt click on the "Windows Search" Service and click "Properties"

5. On the "Windows Search Properties" window under Startup Type choose "Automatic"

6. Click "Apply"

7. Then under Service Status, click on "Start" button

8. Click "OK"
