SHORTCUT.EXE Does Not Accept Pathnames In Command Line

If you use the command line to direct SHORTCUT.EXE to a .LNK file within the directory structure, such as the following command from the command prompt: SHORTCUT -S C:\DIR1\DIR2\SHCUT.LNK SHORTCUT.EXE may return an error message similar to the following:
Error: Unable to find C:\DIR1\SHCUT.LNK
CAUSE
SHORTCUT.EXE does not correctly interpret path names when the -S switch is used.
WORKAROUND
Change to the directory containing the .LNK file before executing SHORTCUT.EXE.
