Error message when you try to access the FOPE Administration Center from the Office 365 portal: "Your username from federation is invalid or your account is disabled"

Symptoms

When you try to access the Microsoft Forefront Online Protection for Exchange (FOPE) Administration Center from the Microsoft Office 365 portal, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

Your username from federation is invalid or your account is disabled.

Federated Users:
Please use your Smart Link to Sign In

Federated Admins:
Click Here to capture the Smart Link

Cause

This behavior typically occurs when you try to access the FOPE Administration Center by using a new administrator account. In this case, the permissions require 24 hours to propagate from Office 365 to the FOPE Administration Center.

Resolution

Wait 24 hours after the administrator account is created to make sure that it is propagated to the FOPE data center before you try to access to the FOPE Administration Center from the Office 365 portal.

Note The new administrator account will not be listed under Users on the Administration tab of the FOPE Administration Center even after the account is propagated.

To access the FOPE Administration Center directly, use the following URL:
