After you install Visio 2000, you cannot find a startup folder.

When Visio 2000 starts, it runs any executables (such as add-ons and macros) that are in its startup folder. The startup folder is mainly for developers who are working on a particular project or Visio add-on.

For Visio 2000 to open these files correctly, Visio 2000 needs an accurate path statement to the startup folder.

To see the current startup folder path statement:

1.	On the Tools menu, click Options.
2.	Click the File Paths tab.

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

To obtain SR-1, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: When you install Visio 2000, a path statement to a startup folder is created; however, the actual startup folder was not created prior to SR-1. If you have executables (such as add-ons and macros) that you want to run automatically whenever you start Visio, and you don't want to install SR-1, you need to create a startup folder.

To create a startup folder:

1.	Start Windows Explorer.
2.	Browse to where Visio 2000 is installed. By default, Visio 2000 is installed in C:\Program Files\Visio.
3.	On the File menu, point to New, click Folder, and then name the folder Startup.
4.	Quit Windows Explorer.
5.	Start Visio 2000, and then on the Tools menu, click Options.
6.	Click the File Paths tab.
7.	Ensure that the path statement is correct.

NOTE: Visio 2000 assumes that the startup folder is in the Visio folder. If you created a startup folder in the Visio folder as described in this article, you do not need a complete path statement; you only need the name of the folder. However, if you created a startup folder in a different location, you do need to enter the complete path statement.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.  This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.
