Event IDs 34005 and 31004 may be logged in the System event log of Windows 7 when Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is enabled on an available Network connectionArticle ID: 2550111 - View products that this article applies to. SUMMARYIf Internet Connection sharing is enabled on a Windows 7 installed machine, a user may encounter 2 events similar to the following in the Windows System Event Log after the system comes out of sleep or hibernate. Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-SharedAccess_NAT Date: 5/5/2011 9:27:27 PM Event ID: 34005 Task Category: None Level: Warning Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: <Computer Name> Description: The ICS_IPV6 was unable to allocate 0 bytes of memory. This may indicate that the system is low on virtual memory, or that the memory manager has encountered an internal error. Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-SharedAccess_NAT Date: 5/5/2011 9:24:12 PM Event ID: 31004 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: <Computer Name> Description: The DNS proxy agent was unable to allocate 0 bytes of memory. This may indicate that the system is low on virtual memory, or that the memory manager has encountered an internal error. MORE INFORMATIONThe two Events described in this article do not indicate any problem with the operating system nor do they cause any functionality issues with Internet Connection Sharing. These events can be safely ignored as they are incorrectly logged because a request to allocate zero bytes memory is invalid.
