Function names changed in non-English versions of Excel 2010 SP1Article ID: 2551525 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSUMMARYTo provide improved function accuracy, consistent functionality that meets expectation, and function names that more accurately describe their functionality, several Excel functions were updated, renamed, or added

to the function library in Microsoft Excel 2010, Microsoft Excel Services 2010 and Microsoft Excel Web App 2010.Additionally, some frequently entered functions were re-localized in 10 different languages (Czech, Danish, Dutch, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Portuguese-Brazil, Spanish, Swedish, and Turkish). This results in a #NAME? error when the familiar Microsoft Excel 2007 function name is entered instead of the updated function name in Excel 2010. When you open a workbook in Excel 2010, Excel Services 2010 or in the Excel Web App that contains function names from earlier versions of Excel, the updated function name appears. Because of customer feedback, Microsoft has decided to return these frequently entered functions back to their Excel 2007 localized names. To return the function names to their 2007 names, download Microsoft Office 2010 Service Pack 1. Example The VLOOKUP function in Spanish is named BUSCARV under Excel 2007. However, in Excel 2010 the Spanish name was changed to CONSULTAV. If you enter BUSCARV instead of CONSULTAV in Excel 2010 pre-SP1 you would receive a #NAME? error. To reproduce this behavior, follow these steps in the Spanish version of Excel 2010:
However, when you install Service Pack 1, you will receive the error #¿NOMBRE? if you enter =CONSULTAV(D1,A1:B2,2) in Excel 2010. The correct function to enter in a post-SP1 Excel 2010 version is =BUSCARV(D1,A1:B2,2). MORE INFORMATIONAfter Service Pack 1 is installed, all workbooks that were created in earlier versions of Excel including pre-SP1 Excel 2010 workbooks automatically display the updated function names. The functions do not have to be re-entered in order to see the updated names.
