Article ID: 255204 - Last Review: May 8, 2003 - Revision: 2.0 FtpCommand() WinInet Function Stops RespondingThis article was previously published under Q255204 SYMPTOMS
When you use the FtpCommand() WinInet function to develop Internet client programs, the FtpCommand() function may cause extended error 12003 or cause these programs to stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
The FtpCommand() function does not wait for the final 226 closing response from the server before the next File Transfer Protocol (FTP) operation. Because FTP allows only one active operation in each session, the requests and responses are not synchronized and lead to error 12003 or cause the client to hang.
