ACC2000: New Data in an ADP File Is Displayed Incorrectly in a Text Box That Has a Default Value

SYMPTOMS

In an Access project (ADP) file, data that is displayed in bound text boxes on a form is displayed incorrectly if the control has the DefaultValue property set to a string of n characters and a new value is entered in the text box that has more than n characters. When the text box loses focus, only the first n characters are displayed in the text box.

WORKAROUND

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

To temporarily work around this problem, when you create a default value for a control, include trailing spaces to make the length of the field the maximum number of characters the control may contain.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 2.
