Virtualization ArchitecturesFull desktop remoting - In this mode, the entire desktop is remotely accessed by using either session virtualization or virtual desktop infrastructure(VDI).Application remoting - In this mode, a given application or a set of applications run on a remote server and can be accessed without remoting the entire desktop. Application streaming - In this mode, an application is virtualized by sequencing the application and deploying the sequenced version in the data center in such a way that users can access and run the application on a local device without installing the application. Feature supportThe following table lists the features that are supported by the Lync 2010 client in a client virtualization environment:Lync 2010 clientCollapse this table
Additional virtualized client supportability information for the Lync 2010 client is listed here: Application streaming - Application streaming was verified on Microsoft products. For details, see the “Vendor support” section earlier in this article. Full desktop remoting with desk phone paired by using USBR - Audio is supported only in a VDI environment. Audio is not supported in a session-based desktop delivery environment, such as Microsoft RDS. Note For detailed information on using RemoteFX with desk phone paired by using USBR see the Webcams/VoIP devices section of: Introducing Microsoft RemoteFX USB Redirection: Part 3
