SYMPTOMS

The Volume icon may be displayed on the taskbar even though you cleared the Show volume control on the taskbar check box in the Sounds and Multimedia tool in Control Panel.

CAUSE

Windows 2000 does not properly check the Volume Control setting when it resumes.
