Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You have a computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
-
You run a client application that uses the SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client ODBC driver to bind a table-valued parameter as a data-at-execution column.

The client application calls the SQLPutData function to change the table-valued parameter to the SQL_NULL_DATA value.
In this scenario, the client application does not call the SQLPutData function, and you receive the following error message:
[28000] - [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server]The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) protocol stream is incorrect. The stream ended unexpectedly
Cause
This issue occurs because the ODBC driver does not send the data length of the SQL_NULL_DATA value to the table-valued parameter.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, apply the following fix on a computer that has SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client installed.
