"Use Personalized Menus" Option in Taskbar and Start Menu Properties Has No Effect on Internet Explorer Favorites Menu

SYMPTOMS

The Use Personalized Menus check box in Taskbar and Start Menu properties has no effect on the Internet Explorer personalized Favorites menu. For example, the Favorites menu is still personalized in Internet Explorer after you click to clear the Use Personalized Menus check box in Taskbar and Start Menu properties.

CAUSE

The Use Personalized Menus check box in Taskbar and Start Menu properties affects only the Start menu (Programs and Favorites). This check box does not affect the Internet Explorer Favorites menu.

RESOLUTION

To enable or disable the Internet Explorer personalized Favorites menu:
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Click to clear or select the Enable Personalized Favorites Menu check box.
  5. Click OK.
