A computer that is running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 joins a domain that has read-only domain controllers (RODCs).
You configure the computer in a subnet that has only RODCs.
You run the Add Printer Wizard to add printers on the computer.
In this scenario, the wizard lists the published printers in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) slowly.
For example, the wizard requires several minutes to list the published printers in AD DS.
Note If the site has at least one read/write domain controller (RWDC), the wizard usually requires several seconds to list published printers in AD DS.
This issue occurs because the Printer Settings User Interface module (Printui.dll) first tries to contact an RWDC in order to obtain information about published printers in AD DS.
The module tries to contact an RODC in order to obtain this information only if the module cannot obtain the information from an RWDC. However, site has no RWDC. Therefore, the module tries to obtain the RWDC information from remote sites, and this operation requires a long time to run.
Note The expected behavior is that the module can query this information first from either an RWDC or an RODC.
