When you are using a Windows 2000-based computer and the computer attempts to enter hibernate or standby, you may receive the following error message:
The device driver for the 'PC/AT Enhanced PS/2 Keyboard(101/102-Key)'device is preventing the machine from entering hibernation. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if a program installs a kernel-mode driver that attaches itself to the standard keyboard driver (I8042prt.sys). Examples of programs that exhibit this behavior include:
RESOLUTION
To workaround this issue, uninstall the offending program and reboot the system. To resolve the issue contact the manufacturer to inquire about obtaining an updated version of the product that is designed for Windows 2000. MORE INFORMATION
