Office Live Add-in errors occur in Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007

SYMPTOMS

You may see an error message when you try to use the Microsoft Office Live Add-in with one of these Microsoft Office applications:

Excel 2003
Excel 2007
PowerPoint 2003
PowerPoint 2007
Word 2003
Word 2007

If you are running version 1.3 of the Microsoft Office Live Add-in, you see this error message:

Connecting to the network failed. Try again later.

If you are running version 1.4 or 1.5 of the Microsoft Office Live Add-in, you see this error message:

Connecting to the Microsoft Office Live Workspace beta failed due to an unexpected error. Try again later.

Microsoft Office Live Add-in Sign-in has encountered a problem and needs to close.

RESOLUTION

To have us uninstall the Office Live Add-in for you, go to the "Fix it for me" section. If you prefer to fix this problem yourself, go to the "Let me fix it myself" section.

Fix it for me

To fix this problem automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.

This wizard may be in English only. However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
If you are not on the computer that has the problem, save the Fix it solution to a flash drive or a CD and then run it on the computer that has the problem.

Let me fix it myself

To resolve this issue, uninstall all versions of the Office Live Add-in. To do this, follow the steps in the procedure that applies to your operating system:

For Windows 7

Click Start.
Type Programs and Features (or appwiz.cpl) in the Search programs and files box, and then press Enter on your keyboard.
Select Microsoft Office Live Add-in (version 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5).
Click Uninstall.
Click Yes to confirm the uninstall of the add-in.

For Windows Vista

Click Start.
Type Programs and Features (or appwiz.cpl) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter on your keyboard.
Select Microsoft Office Live Add-in (version 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5).
Click Uninstall/Change.
Click Yes to confirm the uninstall of the add-in.

For Windows XP

Click Start, and then click Run.
Type control appwiz.cpl in the Open box, and then press Enter on your keyboard.
Select Microsoft Office Live Add-in (version 1.3, 1.4, or 1.5).
Click Remove.
Click Yes to confirm the uninstall of the add-in.
