XADM: Access Violation in the Mimefilt.dll File While Exchange 2000 Server Runs Content Indexing

The following problem affects all customers who use content-indexing on mailboxes in Exchange 2000, and may also affect those who use content-indexing on public folders or application databases.

When MSSearch crawls the Exchange 2000 private or public store to create or update its search index, and it encounters MIME objects, these objects are filtered by the MIME filter that is included in Windows 2000. The MIME filter may cause a buffer overflow, and therefore, the MIME object cannot be indexed. This causes an Access Violation in the Mimefilt.dll file, as well as incomplete indexes, and errors appear in the gather logs for each time the problem occurs.

The MultiByteToWideChar function is overflowing the header buffer, causing memory corruption.
