OFF2000: Some Graphics Pasted into Word 2000 and PowerPoint 2000 May Be Blank

SYMPTOMS

Some Windows metafile graphics (WMF) may appear blank when you paste them in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 or Microsoft Word 2000. The same WMF graphics are displayed correctly when you paste them into earlier versions of PowerPoint and Word.

CAUSE

The problem may occur under the following conditions:
  • You point to Picture on the Insert menu, click From File, and then insert an enhanced metafile into one of the programs listed in the "Applies To" section of this article. -and-

  • The WMF graphic is an anisotropic metafile with negative y-extents.

WMF graphics of this type are created in third-party programs.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.
