system. CAUSEThis
behavior is by design. RESOLUTION To work around this behavior, contact the computer
manufacturer for information about how to configure the BIOS settings for the
computer to disable the PS/2 mouse port or PS/2 keyboard port in the computer.
Note If you have to use a PS/2 keyboard to configure the BIOS settings for the computer or to type commands in MS-DOS mode, Microsoft recommends that you do not disable the PS/2 keyboard port in the BIOS settings for the computer. MORE INFORMATION When Windows reports the status of a PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port, a Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard, or a PC/AT PS/2 Keyboard (84-Key), it reports the status of the port itself. It does not
necessarily report the status of any device connected to the port. If a PS/2 mouse port or PS/2 keyboard port is installed on the computer, and the port is enabled in the BIOS settings for the computer, Windows reports the status of the port on the Device Manager tab in the System Properties dialog box.
