SUMMARY

Microsoft Outlook 97 does not support HotMail e-mail accounts.

MORE INFORMATION

HotMail uses a Web based Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) mail service. Outlook 97 was created before this type of mail service. As a result, you cannot set up Outlook 97 to send or receive e-mail from your HotMail e-mail account. You also cannot use Microsoft Outlook 98 to send or receive e-mail from your HotMail e-mail account. You can, however, use both Microsoft Outlook 2000 and Microsoft Outlook Express 5 with HotMail accounts.
