Password Protection for Files in Windows Me, Windows 98, and Windows 95

Windows Millennium Edition (Me), Windows 98, and Windows 95 do not provide the ability to protect files or folders with passwords.

To protect a file or folder with a password in Windows Me, Windows 98, or Windows 95, you must obtain and install a third-party password or security program. Note that some third-party compression tools such as WinZip and PKZIP also include password capabilities you can use when you create a compressed file.
