SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Office Word 2007 issues that are fixed in the Word 2007 hotfix package that is dated December 13, 2011.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You open a .doc document in Word 2007 that contains an Excel table.
    • You input some data into the table. Then, you copy the cells that contain the data.
    • You paste a link to the data outside the table in the .doc document.
    • You edit the data in the table and then save the .doc document.
    • You update the link.
    In this scenario, when you close and reopen the document, you receive the following error message:
    error ="Objects in this document contain links to files that cannot be found."
    Additionally, the link to the data becomes invalid, and you may receive the following error message:
    Word is unable to create a link to the object you specified. Please insert the object directly into your file without creating a link.
  • Assume that you have a Word 2007 document that contains a special character at the beginning of some text. For example, the special character is "Ω". When you insert the text from the document into another Word 2007 document, the text is displayed incorrectly.

    Note
    This issue occurs when the Track Changes feature is enabled and the User Name field is updated.
  • Consider the following scenario. You have a Word 2007 document that contains a shape at the bottom of a page. You scale the document to print on a paper size that is larger than the document itself. Then, you print the document. In this situation, the shape is not displayed in the printout.
  • When you set a password for a Word 2007 document and then try to save the document to a USB flash drive, the save operation fails and you receive the following error message:
    Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You have an HTML file that contains a hyperlink.
    • The hyperlink is separated into two lines. For example, the HTML file contains the following HTML code:
      <html>
        <body>
          <a href="http://www.bing
      .com?q=sanfrancisco">Hellp</a>
        </body>
      </html>
    • You try to open the HTML file in Word 2007.
    In this scenario, the hyperlink cannot be opened in Word 2007. Additionally, the hyperlink address remains separated.
