Description of the PowerPoint 2007 hotfix package (Powerpoint-x-none.msp, Pptconv-x-none.msp): April 24, 2012Article ID: 2598137 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSUMMARYThis article describes the Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated April 24, 2012. INTRODUCTIONIssue that this hotfix package fixesAssume that you use Windows Internet Explorer 10 Consumer Preview to try to download a PowerPoint 2007 file from a SharePoint 2010 or SharePoint 2007 site. When you click the Open option, the file is not opened as a server document in PowerPoint 2007. Instead, the file is opened as a local document that is stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder. More InformationThis hotfix enables the Direct Invoke feature in Internet Explorer 10 Consumer Preview to work for PowerPoint 2007. With this feature enabled, files can be downloaded directly from the SharePoint server by the default application. When the user starts a file download and the Direct Invoke feature is used, Internet Explorer 10 Consumer Preview does not download the file. Instead, the URL is passed to PowerPoint, and PowerPoint downloads the file from the SharePoint server. To apply the hotfix package to PowerPoint 2007, the SharePoint server must send an additional "X-MS-InvokeApp: 1 ; RequireReadOnly" HTTP header in response to the file download request. To do this, you can configure the SharePoint server manually to have the HTTP header, or you can apply the hotfix package in the following Knowledge Base article: 2597136
