SYMPTOMS

When you import data into the Microsoft Windows Address Book from the Microsoft Works 4.x Address Book, some of the data may be lost or omitted.

CAUSE

This issue may occur because the Works 4.x Address Book is a special template of the Works database. Works 2000 and subsequent versions of Works use the Windows Address Book. You may not be able to import some custom fields added to the Works 4.x Address Book into the Windows Address Book.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, import Works 4.x Address Books into a Works database, and then preserve all of the fields. You can still mail merge from the Works database and the only functionality that you lose is the ability to synchronize with the Works Calendar.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Works 6.0
  • Microsoft Works 7.0
  • Microsoft Works 2000 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2000
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2001
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2002
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2003
