Custom Security Zones After Upgrading to Internet Explorer 5.01 SP1 on Windows 2000

After you upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on Windows 2000, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

• Active Scripting is disabled for the Restricted zone regardless of your previous setting.
• All security zones are set to Custom. As a result, the slider to set your security level for each zone is missing.

The above information also applies to Internet Explorer 5.5.

This behavior can occur because Active Scripting is, by design, disabled for the Restricted sites zone and the High security level when you upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.01 SP1 on Windows 2000. Although all of the security zones are set to Custom is a problem in Internet Explorer Setup, it does not affect any security settings. The above information also applies to Internet Explorer 5.5.

To work around this behavior, click Default Level for each zone that you want to use the recommended settings or slider for configuring your security settings.

This behavior is by design.
