PROBLEM

An Office 365 user or admin forgot his or her password and can’t sign in to Office 365.

SOLUTION

To fix this issue, do one of the following:
  • If you're an Office 365 user, ask the admin at your company to reset your password.
  • If you're an Office 365 admin, you can try to reset your own password if you had already set up an alternate email address and a mobile phone number. For more info about how to reset your admin password, go to one of the following Microsoft websites:
    • Office 365 pre-upgrade:
      • If you have Office 365 for enterprises (pre-upgrade): Reset your administrator password
      • If you have Office 365 for small businesses (pre-upgrade): Reset your administrator password
  • If you're an Office 365 admin and your company has several Office 365 admins, ask another admin to reset your password.
  • If you're the only Office 365 admin at your company or if no other admins at your company are available, contact Support to reset your password.

    Note When you submit your request to Support, include your name, telephone number and email address so that Support knows how to contact you.
