Office Visio 2007 crashes if the Bluetooth Send to Office add-in is installed

SYMPTOMS

When you perform the copy and paste operation in Microsoft Office Visio 2007, or when you close Office Visio 2007, Office Visio 2007 may crash. This occurs when the Bluetooth Send to Office add-in is installed.

Note A Bluetooth add-in is usually preinstalled on new computers or added when Bluetooth hardware or drivers are added. Therefore, Office Visio 2007 may crash on computers that have new or updated hardware.

Note Office Visio 2007 SP3 moves Bluetooth add-ins to the disabled add-ins list. They are not re-enabled in later sessions.

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

To manually re-enable Bluetooth add-ins, follow these steps.
Note Manually re-enabled Bluetooth add-ins will never be moved to the disabled add-ins list.
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Visio\Application
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  4. Type BTSDisabled, and then press ENTER.
  5. In the Details pane, right-click BTSDisabled, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    Note A DWORD value of 1 disables the Bluetooth driver in Office Visio 2007.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
In Office Visio 2007 SP3, a new registry entry, BTSOverride, enables Bluetooth vendors to override the Office Visio 2007 disabling code in their installer. This enables vendors to prevent the automatic removal of an updated add-in that does not cause a crash. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Visio\Application
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  4. Type BTSOverride, and then press ENTER.
  5. In the Details pane, right-click BTSOverride, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    Note A DWORD value of 1 means the driver will always be used and will never be disabled.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
