SYMPTOMS

When Exchange 2000 Server is running under a heavy load on a Windows 2000 Server-based computer, it may cause an access violation in Ole32.dll.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

IMPORTANT: You must install this hotfix before you can upgrade your Exchange 2000 computers to Release Candidate 2 (RC2).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 1.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior can be reproduced when the server is under stress with many messages containing OLE objects.
