XCON: Internet Mail Service Registry Entry for DisableReverseResolve Does Not Map to Default SMTP Virtual Server After You Upgrade to Exchange 2000

When you upgrade a Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 computer to Exchange 2000, if the Exchange Server 5.5 computer has an Internet Mail Service installed with the DisableReverseResolve registry entry set, this entry is not mapped to the newly upgraded Exchange 2000 server.

This behavior is caused because no registry entries are mapped during the upgrade process.

To work around this behavior:

1. Start Exchange System Manager.
2. Locate the default SMTP virtual server.
3. Right-click the default SMTP virtual server, and then click Properties.
4. Click the Delivery tab, and then click Advanced. Click to select the Perform Reverse DNS Lookup on Incoming Messages check box.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
