SUMMARY

When you use certain network configurations with Outlook Express, you may need to change the default post office protocol (POP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) settings that Outlook Express uses to send and receive Internet mail.

To change your default POP port settings:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. On the Mail tab, click your Internet Mail account, and then click Edit.
  3. On the Account Settings tab, click Click here for advanced receiving options.
  4. In the Receiving Mail box, click to select the Override default POP port check box, and then type the port number for your POP (or incoming) mail.
To change your default SMTP port settings:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. On the Mail tab, click your Internet Mail account, and then click Edit.
  3. On the Account Settings tab, click Click here for advanced sending options, and then type the port number for your SMTP (or sending) mail.
