Article ID: 262685 - Last Review: February 21, 2007 - Revision: 4.7 XADM: SMTP Causes Messages to Loop When You Move a MailboxThis article was previously published under Q262685 SYMPTOMS
When you move a mailbox from one server to another, Simple Mail Transfer
Protocol (SMTP) routes mail back and forth between servers, and eventually a
non-delivery report (NDR) is generated.
CAUSE
When you move a mailbox from one server to another, and mail is sent before the
directory change has been replicated, the two servers might set up a mail loop,
each thinking that the other has the mailbox.
