This article was previously published under Q263100 SYMPTOMS
When you click a hyperlink in Microsoft Internet Explorer, the Web page opens in the browser window instead of in a new window in the browser. The problem also occurs if you are using Netscape as your browser.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, click Internet Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Advanced tab. In the Browsing section, click to clear the Reuse windows for launching shortcuts check box. This option may not be available in early versions of Internet Explorer 5.
WORKAROUND
This problem does not occur when you use Microsoft Word as you e-mail editor. To use Word as your e-mail editor in Outlook, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click to select the Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages check box on the Mail Format tab.
You can also open a new browser in Internet Explorer, and then click the hyperlink so that it opens in the new browser.
