SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario: You have a MOSS 2007 site that is based on a Blog site template in any one of the following languages: Spanish, Hungarian, or Polish. You perform a database attach upgrade from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010. After the upgrade, you find that the 'Manage Posts' link in the 'Blog Admin links' web part does not return the correct list. When a user clicks on the link, the page comes up with a '404-file not found' error. For the Spanish language, the 'Vinculos del administrator' web part with the following link 'Administrar entradas de blog' will return a '404-file not found' error. For the Hungarian language, the 'Rendszergazdai hivatkozások web part with the following link 'Bejegyzések kezelése' will return a '404-file not found' error. For the Polish language, the 'Łącza administracyjne web part' with the following link 'Zarządzaj wpisami' will return a '404-file not found' error. CAUSE The URL for the post list has changed in SharePoint 2010 for the Spanish, Hungarian and Polish languages. For the Spanish language, the URL has changed from '/Lists/Entradas de blog/' to '/Lists/Entradasdeblog/'. The title of the list remains as 'Entradas De Blog'. For the Hungarian language, the URL has changed from '/Lists/Hozzaszolasok/' to '/Lists/Bejegyzesek/'. The title of the list has changed from 'Hozzászólások' to 'Bejegyzések'. For the Polish language, the URL has changed from '/Lists/Posts' to '/Lists/Wpisy/'. The title of the list in for both SharePoint 2007 and SharePoint 2010 is 'Ogłoszenia'. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue rename the list in SharePoint Designer 2010 using the steps listed below: 1.) Open the site in SharePoint Designer 2010 2.) In the Site Objects menu select All Files. 3.) Select the Lists folder in the main pane. 4.) Rename the 'Posts' list as follows: Spanish language blog site a. For the Spanish language, notice that a folder has been created named Entradasdeblog. b. Select EntradasDeBlog. The folder should have two aspx pages; 'Date.aspx' and 'MonthlyArchive.aspx' c. Right click and cut the Date.aspx page and paste it into the 'Entradas De Blog' list. Do the same for 'MonthlyArchive.aspx' page. . Select the EntradasDeBlog folder. Right click and select delete. e. Select the Entradas de blog list. Right click and select rename. Enter 'Entradasdeblog'. Hungarian language blog site a. For the Hungarian language notice that a folder has been created named 'Bejegyzesek'. b. Select Bejegyzek. The folder should have two aspx pages; 'Date.aspx' and 'MonthlyArchive.aspx'. c. Right click and cut the 'Date.aspx' page and paste it into the 'Hozzaszolasok' list. Do the same for 'MonthlyArchive.aspx' page. d. Select the 'Bejegyzesek' folder. Right click and select delete. e. Select the 'Hozzaszolasok' list. Right click and select rename. Enter 'Bejegyzesek'. Polish language blog site a. For the Polish language notice that a folder has been created named Wpisy. b. Select Wpisy. The folder should have two aspx pages; 'Date.aspx' and 'MonthlyArchive.aspx'. c. Right click and cut the 'Date.aspx' page and paste it into the Posts list. Do the same for MonthlyArchive.aspx. d. Select the Wpisy folder. Right click and select delete. e. Select the Posts list. Right click and select rename. Enter Wpisy. Important: The name of the list needs to be changed under 'All Files'. When the name is changed, a dialog should appear stating that the list is being renamed. If the name of the list is changed under 'Lists and Libraries', only the title of the list is changed and not the URL. The title of the list can be changed by renaming the list under 'Lists and Libraries' or in the SharePoint user interface in 'List settings > Title and Navigation' section.
