Symptoms

When you use the SQLBulkCopy class to transfer data that contains non-ASCII characters in Microsoft SQL Server 2008, the non-ASCII characters might be lost.

For example, you use the SQLBulkCopy class to transfer the string data Ă to a table. After it is transferred, the string data is A instead of Ă.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed on a computer that is running one of the following operating systems:

  • Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2)

  • Windows Vista SP2



Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
